Piazza del Popolo
One enter the square through a gate in the old city wall. In the centre of the square stands an enormous egypt obelisk surrounded by 4 beautiful fountains. On the opposite side one can find the delightful twin churches Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in Montesanto.
However, the church Santa Maria del Popolo is the most interesting in this square. The exterior of the church is quite simple and it is rather difficult to discover next to the gate. One can get confused about where to enter. Once inside one will find several masterpieces by the great artists from the baroque and renaissance. The church contains several sculptures and paintings by amongst others Raphael, Carravaggio and Bernini. Take your time, here are so many things to see.
.

Next to the church Santa Maria del Popolo this statue can be seen. Here I also discovered the young Romulus and Remus feeding on the she-wolf.
